Ash LaGoryen was the second son, born of nobility into the Ushum bloodline- House of the Dragon in the year 776. Every generation a child of royal blood was bestowed on the four elemental houses possessing “The Gift” – an ability to manipulate their chosen element. Ash was this child, and fire was his gift. However, possessing such a skill was a dangerous thing, and fate had other plans for the boy of only seven summers.
Present day Ash has spent the last twelve hundred years staying under the radar of the monster that ransacked his homelands as a child and later, after years of torture, turned him into the thing he hated most. A Vampire… Vastly different from the immortal that escaped the pits of Hell all those years ago, Ash has zero interest of returning to the station of his royal birth. But, when an ancient prophecy comes to light he finds himself dragged right back into the world of his ancestral bloodline.
Complicating matters furthermore is the foretold “Chosen One”, a beautiful mortal with the power to unite the realms. Ash is faced with an entirely new set of challenges as an impending war looms, and his affections for the young mortal grows. He will have to weigh his choices carefully as the demons of his past rise up to threaten his future.

Angels! Little perverts! All of them!
Ash tried to remain calm as he approached the garden pool. He should have never bought that bikini. What on earth had he been thinking! Both guards swiveled their attention the second they sensed him.
“If I were an assassin, you would both be dead,” Ash ground out. “I thought Alaric was sending his best guards.”
One of the males blinked, his mind clearly working over the best response. “Please forgive us, Your Majesty.”
The second one took over the narrative. “I dare say, we are a bit more modest entity.” He paused, uncertain how to proceed. “I fear our training has never prepared us for such… Might we have a day to acquaint ourselves with your earthy environment?”
Interesting. Modest Angels. Ash almost wanted to laugh…almost.
“I suppose that is not an unfair request. I imagine our worlds are very different,” Ash surmised. “However, that beauty, floating out there in the water,” he pointed. “Is worth more to me than ten thousand of your kind. If you don’t have your shit together by tomorrow, I will kill you. And save Alaric the efforts of cutting off your wings.”
Both males nodded and bowed.
“You are dismissed.” Ash turned back toward the water just as Kielyn back-flipped under the glassy façade. She knew he was there.
“No dear, you can’t get away that easy,” Ash said under his breath as he strolled to the edge.
For a moment he stood there, watching. Her long, graceful limbs glided through the water, her fiery red hair floating like clouds under the surface when her strokes waned, then raging around her ivory skin like flames with each fluid kick. And…that delicious pink thong. Now he remembered why he bought it.
She finally emerged of the far side of the pool. “Kielyn?”
She turned and smiled, willfully obtuse.
Ash crooked his finger. “Come here, dear. We need to discuss this wardrobe.”

This book. WOW. I went into it knowing there would be an array of supernatural elements to it and I am still in shock just how much! Ash is this dominate alpha male that just exudes power and prestige. His enhanced abilities make him that much more enticing on page also. Kielyn is so innocent at first, but you can see she carries so much more behind her nerves, clumsiness and natural beauty.
The story is very very in-depth. I had to read a little slow in the beginning to make sure I wasn’t missing any details and the plot, but that didn’t deter me. I learned all the major players in the book quickly. Dante, Alaric, Marsala, and all the other benders play pivotal roles in how this story unfolds. It was fast paced and had me on the edge of my seat through most of it. There are quite a few twists that even I wasn’t sure how things would go or that I didn’t even see coming.
I admittedly don’t delve into the supernatural or urban fantasy genre of romance all to often, but when I do and I have the opportunity to read something so masterfully written I question why I don’t do it more often. Ms. Von Haegert created a very detailed world with benders, vampires, humans, angels and I imagine so many more. I am excited to see what happens in the next book.
5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome compelling novel…that kept me guessing!! LOVED IT!!

I really enjoyed reading this book it had a very unique twist regarding angels, demons, vampires, and the “devil himself”. Ash LaGoryen is fire bender who was turned into a vampire when he was 25 years old he is a gorgeous alpha male. Who predestined to marry a mortal woman who not only can bend fire but also water. She is completely unaware of her powers and “The Chosen One” and that she is being sought by evil as well as good. She is beautiful and strong willed, and doesn’t realize who she is and what the fuss is. She is brought to another element benders home to meet other benders and have them rally to hers and Ash’s side. Most of the benders and vampires are not aware that she is to become Ash’s mate. Ash does not want the responsibility of honing her powers or for them to be married and become mates. There relationship is tumultuous and I enjoyed them learning to trust each other. His mate gets into quite a few scrapes but Ash and her guardian angel Stefen have their hands full. This is the first novel I read of Stacy Von Haegert..I am now a fan..can’t wait to read the next book in this series!!

I was a little apprehensive at first when I heard about this book. I’ve read the author’s historical romance series and wasn’t sure how well a paranormal story would work. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The characters are just as vivid in this one and have the edge one would expect. Once again you find yourself engaged in what is going to happen and rooting for it all to work out. From a brooding bender to a sarcastic angel, this has a little bit of everything. It’s worth moving it up on your TBR list and losing yourself in the world spun around you.
5.0 out of 5 stars I am hooked!
